An unexpected homecoming left a millionaire stunned by his maid’s actions.

Michael drew in a deep breath, forcing himself to stay calm. Bursting into the room on pure emotion could lead to reckless choices, and he needed clarity now more than ever. Slowly, he slipped his phone from his pocket and recorded a few seconds of video through the narrow gap in the door—evidence of what was unfolding before him.

Once the footage was secure, he stepped back quietly and retreated to his study, where he could think clearly. His mind churned with questions. Was Gloria endangering Emily, or was there an innocent explanation? Either way, he had to uncover the truth quickly.

He first called Dr. Reynolds, the family’s trusted pediatrician, explaining the suspicious jar and Gloria’s odd behavior. The doctor’s steady voice was reassuring:
“Michael, I understand. If possible, bring me the jar and I’ll analyze it right away. But above all, keep Emily safe.”
Michael nodded silently. “Thank you, Doctor. I’ll get to the bottom of this.”

Next, he phoned Gloria’s supervisor at the agency that had recommended her. Pacing anxiously as the line connected, he recounted what he had witnessed. The supervisor assured him there would be a full investigation, admitting Gloria had no prior record of misconduct but agreeing the matter was serious.

Feeling steadier after both calls, Michael returned to the nursery. He opened the door firmly but without haste, his presence commanding the room. Gloria froze, a spoon hovering near Emily’s mouth.

“Mr. Whitmore!” she gasped, startled. “I—I didn’t know you’d be back today.”

Michael’s eyes locked on her. His voice was calm, but carried the weight of a father’s resolve. “Gloria, I need to know exactly what you’re feeding my daughter.”

Gloria hesitated, glancing at the small jar. “It’s a homemade supplement,” she whispered. “Something my grandmother used to make for teething. I thought it might help her.”

Michael’s expression softened, though caution lingered. “Why didn’t you come to me first? Emily’s diet is carefully managed by her doctors.”

“I didn’t want to bother you,” she said, her tone earnest and pleading. “I only wanted to help. I never meant harm, Mr. Whitmore.”

Michael took the jar firmly from her hand. “This will be tested. Until then, I need you to step away from your duties.”

Tears welled in Gloria’s eyes as she handed Emily back. “Of course, sir. I understand.”
