The Unexpected Visitors and the Secret in the Woods

It started like any other quiet morning on the farm — until something strange caught my eye. From the edge of the woods, two deer stepped into the open field, calm and unbothered by my presence. There was something unsettling about how they looked at me — not with fear, but with intent, as if they knew something I didn’t. The smaller one held my gaze, and for a moment, I felt an odd connection. It wasn’t just a random encounter. It felt… deliberate, almost like they had come with a purpose.

I laughed it off at first, snapping a photo and posting it online with the caption, “Unexpected visitors this morning.” But before I could pocket my phone, the smaller deer approached the fence, carrying something wrapped in a dark cloth. I froze. Carefully, I unwrapped the bundle and found a small wooden box inside — weathered, old, and strangely beautiful. When I opened it, my breath caught. Inside lay a silver locket covered in detailed engravings of symbols I didn’t recognize, each one sending a shiver down my spine.

As I looked up, both deer began to move back toward the forest, the smaller one pausing just long enough to look back — almost as if it was asking me to follow. Against all reason, I did. I stepped into the woods, the air growing colder and quieter with each step. The deer led me to a small clearing I had never noticed before, centered by a massive oak tree that looked ancient, powerful. Then, without warning, the deer vanished — as if they had never been there.

I stood there in silence until something unusual caught my eye near the roots of the oak — a patch of disturbed earth. Brushing the soil aside, I uncovered a stone tablet carved with the same strange symbols as the locket. Beneath it, wrapped in brittle parchment, was a message written in elegant script: “For the one who is chosen: The truth is not simple. Follow the signs. This is only the beginning.” I slipped the locket into my pocket, realizing this encounter wasn’t random. Something had been set in motion — and I was meant to be part of it.
