At the class reunion, everyone mocked me

My name is Rebecca Cole. I walked into our twenty-year high school reunion wearing a simple navy dress from a clearance rack. Within minutes, I felt the familiar judgment of classmates who once knew me as valedictorian and debate champion. To them, I had amounted to nothing worth remembering.

The valet barely glanced at my modest sedan as I handed him the keys. Around me, gleaming Mercedes, BMWs, and Teslas dominated the circular drive. I murmured a polite “thank you,” tucked my clutch under my arm, and stepped into the grand lobby of Aspen Grove Resort.
