The Mexican journalism community is in deep mourning following the sudden and heartbreaking death of Debora Estrella, a 43-year-old journalist and beloved television anchor, who tragically lost her life in a plane crash during her very first flying lesson. A Career Marked by Dedication

For millions of viewers across Mexico, Estrella was more than a news presenter—she was a trusted companion in their daily lives. Her career began in 2014 at TV Azteca, where she quickly won over audiences as a weather presenter. Her natural talent and engaging presence led her to new opportunities, first with Multimedios Televisión and later with Milenio Televisión, one of the nation’s most respected news outlets.

By 2018, Estrella had risen to become the main anchor of Telediario Matutino on Channel 6, cementing her place as one of the most respected voices in Mexican media. Her approachable style and confident delivery built trust with audiences, while her colleagues admired her generosity, guidance, and encouragement of younger journalists navigating the pressures of the newsroom.

A Dream Beyond the Camera

Outside the studio, Estrella carried another dream: learning to fly. Friends shared that she had recently begun taking lessons to earn her pilot’s license, motivated not only by curiosity but by her love of adventure and the thrill of freedom in the skies.

On September 20, 2025, she climbed into a small Cessna aircraft in García, Nuevo León, alongside 28-year-old instructor Bryan Ballesteros. What should have been a routine training session turned to tragedy within minutes.
