Trump’s questionable answer when asked if he’ll attend funeral of Sarah Beckstrom

In the span of seconds, an ordinary D.C. afternoon became a battleground. Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe, both just sworn into the National Guard, were ambushed near Farragut metro station. Witnesses watched commuters dive for cover as gunfire erupted. A fellow Guardsman fought the alleged shooter, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, with only a pocketknife until another service member brought him down with shots to the leg and hip.

Beckstrom’s wounds proved fatal. Her father’s quiet acknowledgment of her “mortal wound” was followed by President Donald Trump’s confirmation of her death during a Thanksgiving call with troops. In Webster Springs, West Virginia, neighbors now tie blue ribbons to mailboxes and storefronts, preparing vigils instead of welcome-home banners. Wolfe remains in a hospital bed, fighting for his life, while investigators search for a motive—and a grieving community struggles to make sense of a hero’s final patrol.
